I work in five areas around Austin, and they are different enough from each other that I approach them a little differently. Here is what actually changes house to house depending on where you are.
West Lake Hills and Rollingwood
Larger homes, more square footage, and a lot of hill country stone and tile that looks great but shows hard water spots fast. Homes here also tend to have more glass, big windows facing the hills, which means more streak-prone surfaces per visit than a smaller house. Recurring clients in this area usually lean toward every two weeks rather than monthly, just given the size.
Barton Creek
A mix of full-time residences and short-term rentals. If you are hosting, the cleaning plan is completely different from a standard recurring clean, It’s more about guest-ready turnaround than deep maintenance. I run a separate checklist for Airbnb and short-term rental turnovers for exactly this reason.
Oak Hill
A lot of ongoing construction and road work out this way, which means more dust tracked in than you would expect for a residential area, even with windows closed. Homes here benefit from a little extra baseboard and windowsill attention compared to a house further into town, since fine construction dust settles into those spots first.
South Austin
The most varied area I cover, older bungalows, newer builds, duplexes, all mixed together. Older homes here more often have original hardwood or older tile that needs gentler products than a newer build, which is one more reason I bring my own organic, hypoallergenic supplies rather than relying on whatever is under the sink.
